Betty Lou Wood, age 93, passed away peacefully at home November 11, 2024. She was born April 27, 1931 at St. Louis, Michigan and grew up in that same area. She was a graduate of St. Louis High School, valedictorian of her class. At the age of 19 she married Raymond Leon Wood. The two had been married for 74 years at the time of her death. Both were lifelong members of the Christian Church in Michigan and in Florida, where Betty taught Sunday School nonstop for over 60 years.

After retiring from her job at Alma College in Alma, Michigan, the two of them moved to Odessa, Florida and then to Chiefland several years later and finally bought a home in Montverde, Florida where they spent the rest of their days together.  Whether teaching Bible School at South Lake Christian Church or working outside in their yard, Betty and Raymond enjoyed their last years working together helping others and caring for their plants.

Betty is survived by her husband Raymond and her children David Wood, Judy Jones Bates, Julie Bisher, Dennis Wood and Becky Stolze and a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
