Betty May (Lynn) Cholity, 99, of Winter Springs, Florida, died June 13, 2025. Betty was born May 24, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late John and Alvina Lynn. Betty grew up in Chicago, and then Des Plaines, Illinois, where she graduated from Main West High School. She was a stenographer and rail car scheduler for the railroad before she married Joseph S. Cholity in 1952. They moved to Elk Grove Village, Illinois, where they raised their three children: Steven, Thomas, and Carol. After marriage she was a devoted homemaker. And when the children were grown, she worked as a clerk in a Hallmark Store in Elk Grove. Betty and Joe retired in 1987 and moved to Clermont, Florida, with their son Tom. Betty worked part-time as an office worker at Vacation Village in Clermont.

Betty had a kind, sweet spirit that was evident throughout her long life. She was tender by nature, but firm in her commitment to what she knew to be right. No matter the circumstances, you could always count on her gentle, loving support. She was her children's moral compass and was always there for them in good times or bad. Their deep devotion to her reflected her devotion to them.

Betty stayed close to home most of the time and enjoyed gardening, sewing, painting, walks in the park, birds, and dogs. When her kids were in grammar school she volunteered as room mother and for other school functions. She also volunteered and knitted for Yarns of Love. She was a devoted catholic.

Betty once wrote these words, which stand the test of time: "Use the love of life God gave you with utmost respect for all others, with confidence in yourself and faith in the God that made you."

Betty and Joe were married 53 years, until Joe's death in January 2006. She is survived by her brother John J. Lynn of Clermont, Florida; her son Steven Cholity (Joanne) of Winter Springs, Florida, and his four children with the late Darlene Cholity- Nicole Cholity, Steven Cholity, Christopher Cholity, and Courtney Cholity; her son Thomas Cholity of Winter Springs, Florida; and her daughter Carol Adamson (Tim) of Waterloo, Iowa, and their daughter Audrey Adamson.
