Betty Davis Barnard, 88, of Clermont, Florida and loving wife of J. Monroe Barnard, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024.  Betty was born October 24, 1935 in Patterson, Georgia, the daughter of Williard P. and Margaret Cantrell Davis.

Betty was a devoted wife and mother who served the Lord in the ministry with her husband of 70 years. Part of that ministry was at the First Baptist Church, Clermont from 1970-1981. Betty followed her husband in their early 20's in that ministry and continued serving the Lord her entire life, proclaiming her love of Jesus Christ. Betty loved teaching the babies and toddlers in Sunday School, doing this at every church they served.

Betty was a Patterson Eagle who excelled in women's basketball as top scorer in many games. Her love of sports led her to tennis and as a spectator of High School athletics. Betty loved to camp, travel, and explore Civil War historical locations and battlefields, and hiking mountain trails. She was a fun-loving person who accomplished anything she set her mind to, whether it was photography, sewing, quilting, or baking. She loved good food, the more icing on her cake, or butter in her grits, the better!

Betty was independent, strong willed, fiercely loyal, and soft hearted. She was a loving, thoughtful mother to her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

As many before her, although she wasn't ready to leave her family, she was spiritually ready to "go home".

Along with being survived by her loving husband, J. Monroe Barnard, Betty is also survived by daughters, Karen B. (Randy) Jones and Michele Barnard (Greg Amann) Pines; grandsons, Bryan (Tina) Bowerman and Jonathan (Colleen) Bowerman; granddaughters, Sierra Barnard (Richard) Patterson and Hayley Barnard (Cameron Ames) Pines and great grandchildren, Natalia, Isabella, Lucas, Mia Barnard Farr and Roan Davis Patterson and Betty's sister, Judy Rowell.
