In the town of Santurce, Puerto Rico, Benjamin Soto-Cobian came into the world as the second child of Marcelino and Gloria Soto. Born into a family of 11 siblings, he embarked on his journey through life surrounded by the warmth of familial bonds. Benjamin is preceded in death by the late Marcelino and Gloria Soto, as well as siblings Jose Luis Soto, Elizabeth Madera, Gloria Velez, Manuel Soto, and David Soto. He is survived by his siblings Maria Barreto, Raquel Rosario, Marcelino Soto Jr., Samuel Soto, and Josefina Soto.
As a child, Benjamin relocated to the state of New York, where he pursued formal education and deepened his roots in the church. His parents, dedicated ministers of the gospel, laid the foundation for Benjamin's spiritual journey, shaping his character in the years to come.
During his teenage years, Benjamin discovered the profound emotion of love when he met Luz (Lucy) Aponte. Lucy became his lifelong companion, standing by his side until the day of his transition to his eternal home with the Lord. Their enduring marriage, spanning over 61 years, blessed them with four incredible children and their respective spouses: Benjamin & Monseratte Soto Jr., Angel & Diane Soto, Jackeline (Soto) & Jose Gonzalez, and Deborah Soto.
To these four children, Benjamin was not just a father; he embraced the roles of grandfather and great-grandfather, fostering a legacy that continues through the generations. His influence was profound, instilling in his descendant's courage, stability, and an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. Benjamin was blessed with 5 grandchildren: Marc Soto, Jonathan Soto, Clarissa Soto, Nathan Gonzalez, and Nicholas Gonzalez, as well as 8 great-grandchildren: Olivia, Samuel, Noah, Kalina, Azriela, Faith Grace, Valery Claire and Luke Liam.
In his career, he started as a Postal Worker, later transitioning to become a carpet installer, and eventually found his calling as a lab technician at Pfizer. He ultimately retired after dedicating more than twenty-three years to his work.
A devoted worshipper, Benjamin expressed his deep connection with God through the gift of music, mastering the guitar with an early desire to honor and give back to the Creator. In every community where he served as a member of the body of Christ, he faithfully fulfilled the role God had assigned him. Benjamin was a faithful member of the Better Life Worship Center, where he cherished his church family led by Bishop Juan and Awilda Rivera.
The true testament to Benjamin's character lies in his profound love for family. His devotion to his wife and children remained steadfast for over six decades. He never wavered in his commitment to his family, extending unwavering support, lending a helping hand, and always offering his charming smile to assure each family member of his boundless love.
As we gather today to celebrate Benjamin's transition to the glorious realm he now inhabits, we recognize that his legacy and cherished memories will endure far beyond any expectations he may have held. Though he may no longer be physically present, his love and impact will remain eternally imprinted on our hearts.
In gratitude and love, we say farewell, knowing that the mark Benjamin left on this world will continue to inspire and resonate with all who were blessed to know him.
We will always love you.
