Barbara was born in Coral Gables (Miami), Florida to parents Selwa Adeimy Orwig and Harry Eugene Orwig. Barbara and her family lived in Coral Gables where Barbara's mother worked for the University of Miami as the Director of Food Service and Barbara's father worked for Pan American Airlines as a Manager of the Flight Staff. When Barbara was 13 years old, she and her older sister Jeanne and their parents moved to West Palm Beach where she attended St. Ann's Catholic School before transferring to the brand new Catholic high school, Cardinal Newman. Barbara followed in her mother's career path by studying Hospitality Management and she graduated from Florida State Univeristy where she was a 'Nole until the day she passed away. After graduating from FSU in 1967, Barbara traveled throughout the Southern part of the United States setting up food service accounts in several universities including: Wake Forest University, Tulane, University of the South as well as several other colleges and Universties . In the early 70's, Barbara made a career change and went into the beauty business, owning several hair salons in Palm Beach county with her business partner; it was at that time she met Ralph Timparo via a blind date set up by a family friend, whom she later married and they had two children together Angeline (Angie) Marie in 1974 and Anthony Joseph in 1982. In 1983, she also opened a specialty clothing boutique called "Trends for Clothes and Hair" and after she and her business partner gradually sold the salons, she kept one hair salon in Palm Springs called "Barbara's Beauty Salon" and she joined the two businesses together. In 1987, she sold both businesses and went to work for Cushman's Fruit Company where she worked until she retired in 2005 (after almost 20 years) where she worked her way up to Vice President of Consumer Products. That same year, she and Ralph moved to their beautiful golf course home in Clermont, FL to be close to Angie and her husband Ernie. In 2009, she became a grandmother to Addison Paige and helped Angie and Ernie with Addison's care so that Angie could continue to work in the Television Production business. While Barbara was living in Clermont, she golfed with the women's group, was a member of several clubs in her neighborhood at Summit Greens including the Red Hat Society, she bowled in a local bowling league and helped with several women's charities.
