Obituary

Audrey Dolores Kossol of Clermont FL, peacefully ascended upon heaven on May 29, 2025. She was 93. Her passing dims our world a bit as she was a shining light to all of us that knew her.

She was born on April 14, 1932, in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, was the daughter of the late Stanley and Frances Lucas Kossol, and one of fourteen children.

Audrey lived in New York City as a young adult, performing professionally as a member of "The Castle Sisters". The sisters had a successful singing career performing with the Glenn Miller Orchestra appearing many times on the Arthur Godfrey show, the Ed Sullivan show and many more. After her singing career she taught as a grade school teacher, she then worked as the Director of Food Services for the Archdiocese of New York for many years serving the Bishop, priests and the laity alike.

Audrey retired to Clermont FL in 1999, to join her sister Josie who had been widowed. Audrey was a devout and active parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Her ministries included singing in the adult choir, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, Minister to the Sick, an Emmaus Sister and of Centering Prayer. Together with her sister Josie, they hosted a Friday afternoon prayer-group that persevered for over 14 years!

Audrey had many notable qualities but what was most obvious to everyone was her joyful and loving personality. Any person that ever met Audrey walked away feeling better about themselves and life in general.

In addition to her parents, Audrey was preceded in death by sisters Mary Zampatti, Anne Kossol, Isabelle Coppi, Ruth Rowland, Mother Superior Mary Teresa (Beatrice Kossol), Josie Olsen, Joan Bilchick, and brothers Walter, William, John, Charles, and Jerry Kossol. She is survived by brother Robert (and wife Gladys) Kossol of Monessen, PA, and by many beloved nieces and nephews as well as grand and great grand nieces and nephews.  Donations can be made to a few of Audrey's favorite places to give, St Judes and or The Rev. Fr. Pontian Kaweesa Fund.
