IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arnold Oswald
Egeler
October 17, 1933 – December 27, 2021
Arnold Oswald Egeler (October 17, 1933 - December 27, 2021) went to be with His Lord and Savior, Jesus, peacefully in his sleep while in hospice in Clermont, FL.
Arnold, "Arnie" Egeler was born to Oswald Egeler and Linda Boettiger Egeler in Brooklyn, NY on Oct. 17, 1933. He and his younger sister, Joan, grew up in the Richmond Hill section of Queens where Arnie became an avid Dodgers fan. After graduating high school in 1951, Arnie attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL, where he met the love of his life, Dorothy Lowrie, and earned his Associate Degree in Bible in1955. In 1956, he completed his BA in Biblical Studies at Houghton College in upstate NY. He returned to Illinois to pursue his Master of Theology from Wheaton College. He and Dorothy were married August 10, 1957. It wasn't long before he and Dorothy were called to serve the Lord with Africa Inland Mission in Tanzania as church planters. During this time, the Lord blessed them with 5 children and a fruitful ministry among the Island peoples of Lake Victoria. They returned to the US in 1974 where Arnold served at AIM national headquarters in Pearl River, NY, then as the Financial Services Director at The King's College in Briarcliff Manor, NY, and then Associate Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Brewster before retiring in 1990. They later returned to Kenya with AIM for a few years before settling near family in Colorado Springs from 2000 - 2017. Since then, Arnie has been blessed to live at the AIM retirement community in Minneola Florida. Throughout his life, Arnie's greatest joy was found in mentoring and discipling young men one on one, studying the Bible, praying, and encouraging them to seek God's will for their lives.
Arnold was the beloved husband of wife Dorothy, loving father of Daniel, Timothy, Jonathan, James, and Ruth, brother to Joan, and devoted grandfather to18 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service, followed by interment, is planned on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 2:30pm at Liberty Baptist Church in Clermont. Friends are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, The family suggests donations, in Arnold's name, be made to the Rev. Arnold and Dorothy Egeler Scholarship Fund through Family Worship Center in Birmingham AL ( www.fwcbirmingham.org ). The Scholarship fund supports the training of young men and women for evangelism and church planting on the islands of Lake Victoria in Tanzania, where the Egelers served.
