Obituary

Clermont, FL — Arlington L. Ashby at 91 years old has graduated to Heaven. He received a call early Monday morning, April 22nd, 2018 for a wonderful offer he couldn't refuse - an appointment from which he will not be returning. This new assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus; a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a very long time. His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be socializing, gardening and reading to his heart's content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious, and you never gain an ounce. He left detailed instructions for his son and other beloved family members to celebrate his mission here, which has now been completed.

The Ashby family celebrate Arlington's new assignment and are thankful to God to have shared so many years with him. We will cherish his memory and always remember his smile, his love for a good cup of coffee, his warmth, his quick wit, his stories of his boyhood escapades along the beaches of Barbados more than 70 years ago, and his great love for life, family and friends. He worked very hard all his life, retiring from Pan-Am Airlines payroll department in 1988. He moved from his long-term home in Jamaica Queens, New York to Clermont, Florida in 2005.

Arlington is preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Martha (Pilgrim) Walcott; his parents, Lloyd E. Ashby and Hannah R. (Walcott) Ashby; his loving wife, Lois Astrid and daughter, Cecile Annette; as well as his sisters, Doris, Hazel and Lucille Ashby. He is survived by his son, Lloyd D. Ashby and wife, Frizzette; and granddaughter, Katurah Ashby; cousins, Joan, Catherine and Edward Stuart; cousin Diane Clarke Streett; cousin Nicolas Drayton and other loving family members. He made a great difference and impacted the lives of many and will be sorely missed.

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral Services will take place on Saturday, April 28th at 10:30 a.m., at Saint Matthias Episcopal Church, 574 Montrose Street, Clermont, FL 34711. Interment will be at Long Island National Cemetery located at 2040 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY 11735.
