Son, husband, father, brother, uncle, soldier, musician, and friend. Words are not enough to describe a life, especially one that was lived so fully. Angel L. Garcia was born May19, 1952 in Caguas, Puerto Rico. A passion for music and a forward moving spirit brought him to New York City in his teens. Here, he sharpened his talents and moved seamlessly through a critical progression in rock and roll history, experiencing some of the genres' most influential artists and styles. He joined our United States Army two years later and served 4 honorable years, with an overseas tour in Erzurum, Turkey. He was an expert rifleman, was twice acknowledged for exceptional military conduct, was awarded a National Defense medal, and gained a wealth of culinary knowledge that supplemented his later careers. After serving our country, he returned to his first passion, and worked hard to build his adult life. He will forever be known for his hard work in the food inspection and agricultural industries where he learned quickly and was frequently commended on his great ethic, experience, willingness to learn and teach. Throughout his work and family lives he made sure to nurture his extreme talent as bass player and rhythm expert. He possessed a musical genius that allowed him to contribute to his multiple band mates over the years, and was respectful always of the great talent around him, working diligently to supplement their sound and create a flawless musical experience. As a father he will be remembered as loving and nurturing. He fostered a strong spirit of independence in his children, wanting them to always be self-reliant, and hard working. Admirable characteristics that he displayed until his very last day with us. He was a loving and devoted husband, working hard to provide his family with a comfortable, safe, and happy life. He made himself available always to their needs and wants, delighting them with his presence and providing the extra material touches that make our lives enjoyable and create fond memories. He was a beloved brother and uncle, and he was proud of his family titles and held them close to his heart. He believed in the beauty and importance of family and worked tirelessly during holidays to provide us with beautiful meals and an atmosphere of overwhelming love and appreciation. As a son he lived ever thankful for all his parents taught him and helped him with over the years. He is survived by his mother, America, sister Marilyn, wife Susan, daughters Lisa and Angela, and son Christian. He is preceded in death by his father Angel Garcia Soto. The family wishes to take this time to invite you to share your wonderful thoughts and memories of our beloved Andy. He would be delighted to know that all of us who love him would remain close in his memory. In lieu of flowers, which unfortunately cannot be displayed in the National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest, a donation may be made to the family for expenses incurred during this difficult time. On behalf of all of us - we love you, we thank you, and we are so honored to have shared Andy with you. God bless.
