IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ana Angelica
Ortiz
December 13, 1947 – October 7, 2025
Ana Angelica Ortiz, 77, of Clermont, Florida, passed away peacefully on the evening of October 7, 2025, surrounded by her closest family, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.
Born in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico, Ana's life was defined by intelligence, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to others. She worked with the U.S. Army before becoming the Director of Civil Services and Diversity at the National Science Foundation. Ana was deeply passionate about promoting diversity and inclusion, especially for minorities and underrepresented groups, and she received countless accolades for her leadership and impact. Her work took her across South America and Europe, experiences that deepened her understanding of people and cultures around the world.
Ana's intellect was matched only by her warmth. She made everyone around her feel safe, valued, and understood. She was the person family and friends turned to—whether for advice, a place to stay, financial help, or simply a listening ear. She was endlessly generous, always buying little gifts for others on her frequent trips to TJMaxx, Ross, HomeGoods, and Marshalls. She found joy in the little things and laughter in everyday moments.
She loved to read, play games on her iPad, watch romantic comedies, watch Spanish league soccer games, and indulge in her favorite snacks—chocolates, cookies, and a sweet treat from Ritter's Custard. Ana enjoyed hosting people at her home, often greeting guests with a big smile and a platter from Publix or BJ's, ready to make everyone feel welcome.
Above all, Ana's greatest pride and joy was her son, Lorenzo Molina (Lexie), whom she adored and proudly told everyone and anyone that he became a doctor. Her love for him was boundless and unwavering. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Maria.
Ana faced Parkinson's disease with incredible perseverance, discipline, and grace. For sixteen years, she fought against the daily challenges of this devastating illness with strength and determination. She worked tirelessly with her physical, occupational, and speech therapists to maintain her mobility, her sharp mind, and her independence—hallmarks of her identity. Her resilience in the face of Parkinson's inspired everyone who knew her and stands as a lasting testament to her spirit.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ana A. Ortiz and Jesús Ortiz, and her cherished dog, Cookie—a Yorkie-Silky mix who brought her endless joy and is surely waiting in heaven for belly rubs.
Ana was a devout Catholic who believed heaven was a reunion of love—where she now joins her parents and her faithful companion, Cookie. She will be cremated and laid to rest in St. Augustine, Florida, alongside her mother and father.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to her medical team—including her physicians from many specialties—and her loving, devoted caregivers who treated her with kindness and compassion, ensuring she lived the fullest and happiest life possible. They became part of the family and brought her comfort and dignity through every stage of her illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Parkinson's Foundation in honor of Ana's memory, to support research toward finding a cure for this disease that she fought so bravely.
Ana's brilliance, humor, and boundless love will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Her laughter, generosity, and resilience will be remembered always—as a reminder of how beautiful life can be when lived with love, strength, and purpose.
