Amos Duncan, of Leesburg FL, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 5, 2024.  Amos was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
Amos was born July 11, 1933, in New Castle, IN.  Amos was a graduate of Carmel High School in Carmel, IN and attended Purdue Univ School of Engineering.  After his service in the US Army, Amos worked for the Department of Defense as an engineer at Naval Avionics, Allisons and Martin Marietta until he retired in 1989.   Not one to twiddle his thumbs, Amos then worked part-time for Home Depot and Ace Hardware, Clermont Fl, for another 20 years.  He enjoyed his co-workers and sharing his vast home repair knowledge with the customers.
Amos was an exceptional woodworker, avid reader and talented banjo player; unfortunately, his worsening eyesight over the past few years made those activities more challenging.  Amos also enjoyed puttering, as he would say, in the yard and flower garden.   However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends.  Amos was known for his kindness, compassion and good humor.
He was predeceased by his parents, Amos Bird and Catherine Creola Duncan, his stepmother Rosa Myrtle Duncan, his first wife Lola Jeanette Duncan, his brother, Jerry Edward Duncan and sisters Donna Jean Quinley, Hazel Louisa Jennings and Ruby Alice Painter.  Amos is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carol Anne Duncan, his daughters Catherine Duncan and Karen Hamm, stepdaughter Elizabeth Tharp, sisters Shirley Reagan and Tanya Bush, and his nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
