Alva Edward Ashline affectionately known as Al, passed away on August 16, 2024, in Clermont, Florida. Born to Alma Gumlaw and Napolean Ashline on March 28, 1945. Al moved from Saranac, New York to Clermont, Florida 29 years ago.
In 1995, Al married the love of his life, Hattie "Jeannie" Trammell. They spent the next 29 years building their little piece of heaven in Lake County Florida. Thy enjoyed gardening, growing fruit trees and raising chickens, pigeons and other small animals. Al was a devoted father to his son Edward Ashline, daughter Shelly Fountain, three grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Al enlisted in the United States Army and spent a year 1965 – 1966 in Vietnam. He was awarded Vietnam Campaign medal. He separated from the Army September 30, 1969 as a Sp4. He spent the next 25 years working at the Georgia- Pacific Paper Mill as a graphic artist.
He was a proud member of VFW William Alfred Suggs Memorial Post 5227. Al was a founding member of the American Legion Clermont Veteran's Memorial Post 357 and was the Sergeant- at- Arms for the last 14 years.
Al was predeceased by his parent, sister Cindy King and brother John Ashline. He was survived by his wife, Jeannie, his children Edward and Shelly, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Sisters Janet LaClair, Bonnie Peets and Tammy Kemp and one brother Everest Ashline and a wide circle of friends and colleagues.
Al will be laid to rest in Bushnell National Cemetery.
