Obituary

"Mama" or "Lani", as Alana was affectionately known to family and friends, was born Alana Nikisha on January 29, 1983, to Veronica Jacob-
Harris in Brooklyn, NY and was baptized into the Catholic faith.

Alana was enrolled in P.S. 81, where she participated in arts and crafts, music, and physical and occupational therapies. While in attendance, she received recognition for her steadfast participation on countless occasions.

Lana's childhood and early adulthood years were spent in Brooklyn, NY, where she was constantly surrounded by the love of her mother,
grandparents Norris and Greta Jacob, aunts Natasha and Deborah Jacob, and cousins Ashley Levy, Shurlyn and Petra Mark, Ann and Felix
Flavigny, Karisma Jones, Casiea Joseph, Kiara Clement, as well as great aunts, uncles and extended family, the Moores and the Henrys. Lani
reciprocated this love through her warm smile, hugs, and touch. During her time in NY, she not only had mother figures in her aunts and great
aunts, but also in Inez Kinsdale, Lynette Thomas, Merle Romeo, and Mary McCowen, who nurtured her and played a significant role in her
life.

In 1996, Lani traveled to Lourdes, France on a religious pilgrimage with her devoted mother, Veronica, and doting aunt Eldica. While there,
Lani went to The Grotto, where she was blessed to be a part of religious services. She was dipped in The Grotto and toured the Sanctuary of
Our Lady of Lourdes, the very place where The Virgin Mary is said to have appeared to St. Bernadette in a vision.

In 2004, Lani and her family relocated to Ocoee, FL joining her aunt, Agatha, uncle, Shurland, and cousin, Shurlyn, all of whom adored her. While in Florida, Veronica and Alana met Eric Harris, who immediately bonded with Alana and became extremely fond of her. Eric became an integral part of Alana's life, showering her with love and affection. The trio became inseparable. During the summer months, Alana's brother, Ryan, would visit and the trio became a foursome, traveling to Smoky Mountain, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg in Tennessee, Disney World, Sea World, Naples, Marco Island, the Keys and Marathon in Florida, Louisiana, and North Carolina. Ryan always ensured that he looked out for his sister. During Alana's time in Florida, she was also blessed to have the caring families of the Prashads, Moores, Johnsons, Blowes, and Hemenezs extend innumerable acts of kindness towards her. Alana's beauty was flawless. Her perfect ability to love unconditionally was displayed through the manner in which her outstretched hand grasped the hands of her loved ones and stroked her father's chin, bringing jubilance and calm into their very souls. Mama's smile was infectious and lit up a room, brightening the day of anyone in her presence. She was never daunted by the challenges which life presented. She epitomized the true essence of being a pillar of strength. While in the hospital, Alana fought until the very end. Her strength was an inspiration to those around her and she brought sunshine into the lives of all who knew her. Alana was truly her family's pride and joy.

During her final hospitalization, she was encircled by her parents, whom never left her bedside, her grandparents, her aunts, Natasha and
Deborah, cousin, Ashley, great-aunt, Babsie, and great-uncle, Cecil.

Mama was taken physically from our presence on June 5, 2021, but her spirit will live on within our hearts and minds. She is now enjoying the eternal rest from her journey here on earth. May Alana's life always remind us of the beauty in strength and perseverance. She fought the good fight, stayed the course, finished the race, and is now in the arms of Our Loving Father.

Alana leaves to cherish her memory, her parents, Veronica and Eric, grandparents, Norris and Greta, brother, Ryan, aunts, Natasha, Deborah, Valerie and Hillary, great-aunts Eldica, Babsie, Ura, Desiree, great-uncles Herbert, Shurland, Cecil, Willis and scores of dear extended family and friends too numerous to mention.
