Obituary

Alan Eugene Heist

July 2, 1969- August 16, 2021

Alan Eugene Heist of Groveland, FL – devoted family man, mentor to many, and a friend to all - passed to his heavenly Father on August 16, 2021.  Alan is survived by his two daughters, Rachel Jane and Ryleigh Garnett, his mother, Mary Jane Boring, his step-father, Steven P. Boring, two sisters Anita Cambron (Emily and Caleb) and Laura (Kyle) Bassett (Aubrey and Alexandra) and several beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.  Alan was preceded in death by his beloved father, Earl Eugene Heist.

Alan was born in Deland, FL on July 2, 1969 and graduated from Deland High School in 1987.  As a boy it was clear that Alan inherited a natural curiosity from his father to know how things worked.  He spent countless hours tinkering in his garage and found his happy place behind his custom workbench.  He enjoyed working on engines and never met a motor he didn't like.  He was an avid hunter and traveled to many states with family members pursuing his penchant for the outdoors.

Alan married the love of his life, Cheryl Elizabeth Fenton on July 19, 2002.  They had two beautiful daughters, Rachel and Ryleigh, and settled in Groveland, FL where they were members of The First United Methodist Church of Clermont.

Alan was an extremely active and dedicated member of the Masonic Fraternity.  He was a perpetual member of Clermont Masonic Lodge #226 and Orlando Scottish Rite Bodies. He was a Past Master of Clermont Lodge, Past District Deputy Grand Master, District Instructor for 2 years, and served on several Grand Lodge Committees.  He was also a member of the three York Rite bodies, an adult worker with the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls and a recipient of the Grand Cross of Color.

Alan graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Business and worked in finance at Disney for several years.  He took this experience and combined it with his passion for motorcycles and spent the better portion of his career working at Harley Davidson.  Most recently, Alan's entrepreneurial spirit and financial expertise inspired him to co-found a Real Estate Appraisal business as well as an           e-commerce web solutions consulting company.

His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his adoring daughters and family.

S ervices will be held at Clermont Masonic Lodge, September 4, 2021 at 11AM.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes that memorial donations be made to the special account that has been established for Rachel and Ryleigh at https://gofund.me/50013779.
