In Loving Memory of Ahelia Seepersaud Lochan Mitthu
Ahelia Seepersaud Lochan Mitthu passed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of strength, sacrifice, and unconditional love. Born in Guyana to Santoki Seepersaud and Etwaria Jorrie, Ahelia was the youngest of eleven children—a role that shaped her warmth, resilience, and deep sense of family from an early age.
Ahelia's life was defined by courage and devotion. She embraced the profound journey of leaving Guyana to build a new life in America. Like so many immigrants of her generation, she carried little more than determination, faith, and an unwavering commitment to her family. Through hard work and perseverance, she created a home rooted in love, tradition, and care for others.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Lochan and Mitthu, whom she loved deeply and honored throughout her life. Ahelia was a devoted mother to her children: Sabie, Ellen, John, and Picco. Her role as "Ma" and "Grammy" was one she cherished, pouring endless love into her grandchildren—Seema, Ashley, Kelley, and Tena—and later her great-grandchildren, Zander, Myla, Emerald, and Jade, who brought her immense joy and pride.
Guided by her Hindu faith, Ahelia lived with grace, humility, and service. Family was always at the center of her world—she was a caregiver, a quiet pillar of strength, and a source of comfort whose presence made everyone feel safe and loved.
Her journey, sacrifices, and love will continue to live on through the generations she nurtured. Ahelia will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
