A.F. "Bud" Holt, Jr., 75, of Clermont, FL passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2011.  Bud was born in Lake City, FL on January 31, 1936, the son of A.F. and Esther (nee Snell) Holt, Sr.  Bud grew up in High Springs, FL and graduated from High Springs High School, then furthering his education with a degree from South Georgia College.  After college Bud became a Florida State Trooper, working as one for 12 years.  Following that he worked as a claims adjuster for State Farm Insurance, then safety director for various trucking companies before finally retiring as a safety consultant in the transportation industry.  Bud was a member of Marion-Dunn Masonic Lodge #19, F & AM, the Elks Lodge #286 both of Ocala, FL and was inducted in 1998 into the FHSAA Hall of Fame after many years as a high school football referee.  Bud was also a member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Clermont.



Bud is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Eileen; sons, Jim "Scooter" Holt and wife Beth of Clermont and Thomas "Chad" Holt and wife Sherri of Summerville, SC and 7 grandchildren, Chance, Brittany, Jenna, Ryan, Bryce, Brennen and Brady.  He was preceded in death by his son, Michael "Andy" Holt in 2009.









A Celebration of Bud's life will be held at 2PM Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Clermont.  Dr. Ed Johnson officiating.  At Bud's request please no flowers, donations may be made to the family or charity of choice.
