Francis E. "Duke" Latourelle

Francis E. Duke Latourelle, 78, Clermont, FL & Keeseville, NY passed away March 5, 2010 at his Clermont residence. He was born December 16, 1931 in Keeseville son of Grace Smith Latourelle & Arthur H. Latourelle. He attended and graduated from Keeseville Central High School in 1949 where he was a star athlete. He enlisted in the US Air Force, serving from January 1950 through September 1953. On July 3, 1954 he was united in marriage to Patricia Evelyn Teichman. He worked as AuSable Chasm as a boatman and North Country Club as a bartender in his younger years, later owning and operating the Keeseville Bowling Center along with his wife from 1960 to 1974. Active in sports all of his life, he was the MVP of the Mountain and Valley League in 1949; was MVP in 1964 in the AuSable Forks Annual Fast Pitch Softball Tournament and was inducted into th inaugural group of the AuSable Valley High School Hall of Fame in 2006. He was a avid golfer and bowler. After working for the New York State Corrections System for 36 years he retired as Superintendent. He served as a Trustee of the Village of Keeseville for 18 years; was a charter member of the Elks in Keeseville; Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus; Life Member of AmVets & member of the American Legion in AuSable Forks, NY. He has been a lifelong member of his church, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Keeseville and served as an usher from 1980 until 2007 as well as ushering at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Clermont from 1997 to 2007. He and Patricia wintered in Florida since his retirement in 1992. Surviving is his wife Patricia; children Sue Ellen Latourelle King and husband Bruce of Clermont; Mark F. Latourelle and wife Francine, Winter Park, FL & David A. Latourelle and wife Lorena of Keeseville; grandsons Aaron D. King and wife Abby, Clermont; Corey E. Latourelle, Orlando, FL & Eric Burris and Jason Burris both of Winter Park; great-grandson Adam D. King, Clermont; brothers-in-law Howard Thompson, Champlain, NY; John Teichman (Brenda) Plattsburgh, NY; William Teichman (Janet) Spartanburg, SC; Daniel Teichman, California; Michael Teichman, Hudson, FL; Tim Gibbons (Judith) Plattsburgh, NY; sistes-in-law Dawn Latourelle, Lake Placid, NY; Carol Frome (Bob Pepoon) Woodruff, SC; Mary Alice Pyles (Dean) Brooklyn, NY; cousins Gary Latourell (Susan) Plattsburgh, NY; William Latourelle (deceased) and wife Janet, Port Orange , FL and Dorothy Lefevre (deceased) Keeseville, NY; many nieces and nephews, He is predeceased by his sister Leona Thompson; brother Arthur F. Latourelle; his parents; sister-in-law Joan McGee and brother-in-law Robert L. McGee. Mass of Christian Burial for Duke Latourelle, celebrated by Reverend Cromwell Cabrisos, will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church followed by a reception in the Social Hall. Inurnment will be at a later date in Keeseville. Visitation will be from 4-6 on Monday, March 8, 2010 at the funeral home.
